Hearts defender Halkett signs new contract

Hearts defender Craig Halkett has signed a new contract with the Scottish Premiership leaders until 2028.

Halkett has helped keep nine clean sheets in 18 appearances this campaign, with the Jambos sitting six points clear at the top.

The 30-year-old has also scored five times, including the Edinburgh derby stoppage-time winner over Hibernian in October.

Halkett's 160th Hearts appearance could come in Saturdays Edinburgh derby at Easter Road, live on Your Site.

Hearts boss Derek McInnes said of Halkett's new deal: Its great to get Craig secured on a longer-term deal. Ive been working with him closely now over the last six months and hes exactly the type of player that I knew he would be and can be.
