'Guehi may have gentleman's agreement to sign for Liverpool'

Your Site News' chief correspondent Kaveh Solhekol:

"I think before Isak's injury, the main priority for Liverpool this January was strengthening at the back. We know they're definitely going to sign a new centre-back in 2026.

"Now, could it be Marc Guehi? I've heard talk that he may have a gentleman's agreement with Liverpool, that he will sign for Liverpool. Of course, he almost signed for them until the deal collapsed on deadline day in the summer.

"But remember, in January, he will be free to talk to foreign clubs and Bayern Munich want him, Real Madrid want him. I think he's on a target list for Barcelona as well. Barcelona head coach has said that they will be signing a centre-back as well.

"I think it would make sense for everyone if he leaves in the summer. I think he would get a better deal and also I think it would be better for Crystal Palace tohold on to him because they've still got a lot to play for this season."

Quiet transfer window for Arsenal despite injuries

Your Site News' Dharmesh Sheth:

"It's widely regarded at the moment that Arsenal have the best squad in the Premier League. They are top despite their injuries. They are top of the Champions League group. They are in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

"Like a lot of the big clubs, Arsenal don't go into the summer thinking 'what are we going to do in January?' They want to get their business done in the summer.

"At this moment in time, it's likely to be a quiet transfer window for Arsenal."

'If Liverpool want Semenyo, they will get him'

Your Site News' chief correspondent Kaveh Solhekol:

"If Liverpool come in for him, he'll go to Liverpool. Liverpool is too good a move to turn down. They have been big admirers of him. They have looked at signing him before.

"They also have track record of signing players in January. Luis Diaz looked like he was going to Tottenham and at the last minute Liverpool came in for him. Cody Gakpo looked like he was going to Manchester United.

"Liverpool never bid against themselves. They don't get involved in a bidding war. They wait until the last minute, until other clubs almost do a deal for a player and then they make a phone call to say they will match the deal.

"Liverpool are expected to have a quiet January. There is money to spend. Sometimes they move quickly to get a summer target in if they think they are going to go somewhere else.

"Over the next few days, especially in light of Isak's injury, there will be discussions over whether they make a late move for Semenyo."

United could go for Semenyo in January

Your Site News' Dharmesh Sheth:

"Ruben Amorim has consistently said that the club will make moves in the January transfer window provided it is in the long-term interest of Manchester United.

"They have kept a keen eye on Semenyo's development. That interest goes further back than the summer transfer window.

"Semenyo signed a new contract in the summer that included a release clause of 60-65million. That release clause is only valid in the first half of January. That's because if someone triggers the release clause, Bournemouth want time to find a replacement.

"There is then a lower release clause in the summer transfer window. Expect some sort of movement in the first half of this transfer window."

Semenyo held in high regard by Liverpool, Spurs, Utd and City

Your Site News' Dharmesh Sheth:

"Antoine Semenyo is aware of the interest in him. We've been told that Manchester City and Manchester United have both made clear their interest. Other clubs including Liverpool and Tottenham have long-term admiration as well.

"Tottenham tried to sign Semenyo in the summer transfer windoe but the price was too big for them to pursue that deal. They're unlikely to pursue a deal this window unless they get some encouragement that the player would want to join.

"Liverpool are now an interesting one. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool will back up their admiration by triggering the release clause now that Isak has picked up an injury."

West Ham appoint Guarino as Skinner replacement

West Ham have appointed Rita Guarino as their new head coach.

The Hammers have moved swiftly to replace Rehanne Skinner, who left the club last week with the club second from bottom in the Women's Super League table.

Italian coach Guarino has signed an 18-month contract with the Hammers and will take charge of her first match on Sunday 11 January against Chelsea in the Barclays Womens Super League.

She has also coached Italy's Under-17s and Inter Milan's women's team.

"Im so happy to be joining West Ham United, she told West Ham TV.

"It is a Club with a big history and strong values that align with my own.

"Ive spoken with the Board and Im really excited by the project here. There is a lot of talent and experience in the team, and I want to support the girls to develop as individuals but also as a collective.

"I want to build a team that is organised, aggressive with the ball and that tries to recognise and use space. The mentality of the team - the togetherness and hard work - is the most important thing.

"Im proud to be here and Im looking forward to the chapter ahead in the best league in the world."

Brighton intent on keeping Man Utd and Man City target Baleba until at least the summer

Latest from Your Site News' Adrian Kajumba:

Brighton are intent on keeping Carlos Baleba until the summer at least and only a huge offer would cause a rethink in January, Your Site News understands.

Despite failing to hit his previous heights so far this season, Baleba continues to be coveted by a number of top clubs.

Your Site News has already reported that the 21-year-old is on the list of midfielders Manchester United are looking at for next summer.

Baleba is also one of a number of midfielders Manchester City are monitoring as they look at potentially strengthening there next summer as well.

Baleba is currently away with Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations, which runs until January 18 and is seen as one of several hurdles in the way of trying to a deal in the upcoming window.

Another is Brightons intention to be well-covered themselves with a replacement, ready for when Baleba eventually moves on. Brighton have a history of impressive succession planning, with their central midfield area a prime example.

When they allowed Yves Bissouma to join Tottenham in 2022 they already had Moises Caicedo ready to step in. In August 2023, Caicedo was then sold to Chelsea and quickly succeeded by Baleba, who had moved to the Amex from Lille in the same month.

Brighton are expected to look at signing a long-term successor to Baleba as part of their January transfer plans, as well as potentially a newcomer at right-back and left sided centre-back. They could also look at new strikers too.
